This film isn’t just about fashion – it’s about one lovely man, living a life without compromise.
Bill Cunningham was one of, if not the first to document the inspired fashions he saw on the sidewalks of New York City. His column had an egalitarian eye for style and was one the first to mix high and low. He recognized something that has become part of the KUTE ethos – every walk way is a runway.
Mr. Cunningham knows that fashion isn’t just about the frivolity of clothes, it’s about what they mean and what they say to others. To quote Simon Doonan (Creative Director of Barney’s) “Clothing is non-verbal communication.” There is no way to be silent, you are part of the conversation wether you like it or not.
This film is only playing at one Manhattan theatre and it’s days are numbered so catch it while you can. (Ticket & Showtimes)
